Dukhtaran-e-Millat on Sunday said that upcoming Eid-ul Azha will be the sixth consecutive Eid that the party chairperson, Syedah Aasiyeh Andrabi, and the press secretary, Sofi Fehmeeda will be spending inside the jail since 2015. “People are requested to spend this Eid as per the teachings of Islam and with austerity and remember the sacrifices of our leaders and people including Baaji Sahiba, Nahida Nasreen and Sofi Fehmeeda who will be in jail this Eid.

This is not the first time these leaders will be spending the Eid in jail as it will be the 6th consecutive Eid for Baaji Sahiba and Fehmeeda inside and Indian jail,” party spokesperson, Rifat Fatima, said in a statement. She said that people of Jammu and Kashmir must remember the sacrifices of the leaders. “ Eid-ul Azha is an Eid of sacrifice and we must remember the sacrifices of those who have put their present on line for our better future,” Rifat said.

She said that people and the leaders of Kashmir have sacrificed everything for us. “It is our duty to remember these sacrifices and continue the struggle against the oppression and the brutal occupation,” she added. “ Our women leaders who are serving an illegal detention in the notorious Tihar jail have sacrificed their love for their children, their families and have rejected the worldly pleasures just for our freedom and dignity,” she added. She said the young Sofi Fehmeeda has been going to jail since she was 17 years old.

“ Being young, she too would have wanted to fulfil her desires like our young sisters do on festivities like Eid but she choose to take the illegal occupation and thus sacrificed everything; the result of which is that she is serving a rigorous punishment inside the Tihar jail. People must not forget this sacrifice our young sister has made so far. Remember, this will be her 6th Eid in incarceration,” Rifat added. She said that Andrabi Sahiba too would have preferred to make best arrangements for her children and family on this auspicious occasion.

“ Parents will be shopping and looking for new clothes and best gifts for their children but what about those children who parents are languishing in jails. Baaji sahiba’s children will be missing their mother and she too will be missing them but she is in jail. Her crime is that she is sacrificing everything for our future and it is our duty to remember these sacrifices,” she added. “People must not forget the sacrifice of Dr. Qasim Faktoo, husband of Baaji Sahiba. His children have not spend any time with him for the past 25 years,” she added. Likwise, Nahida Nasreen, who is the mother of three children, must be thinking about his children.

“ Like all mother, she too will be thinking about preparing things for her children this Eid but she too will unable to be with them in these festivities,” she added. “So we appeal the whole Muslim Ummah in general and Kashmiri people in particular to remember those who are languishing in jails, also remember those who were blinded by Indian forces by pellets, they too would have loved to see these festivities but the occupational forces have snatched their eyesight. As responsible people, we must always remember these sacrifices and pledge to continue the mission of these people forward,” she added. She also appealed the Imaams on the valley to highlight the contribution of the pro-resistance people and leaders in the Eid-ul Azha congregations and also hold special prayers for the freedom of the jailed people and leaders including Baaji Sahiba, Nahida Nasreen and Sofi Fehmeeda.

“We owe this to these leaders. Have we not been directed by the Allah SWT that we must stand for our oppressed men, women and children. So, we must continue this struggle and at the same time, we should also make Dua for all our people and leaders who are languishing in jails across India,”she added. Rifat also asked the World Human especially Amnesty International to play an effective role in highlighting the plight of the jailed Kashmiri leaders. “Our leaders are being subjected to worst treatment inside the jails.

Baaji Sahiba, who is suffering from multiple ailments, is being denied medicines, no Kashmiri prisoner is given a fair trial while as food, which is of sub-standard quality, is being supplied in polythene bags inside the cells of Tihar to these women prisoners. They are not being produced in courts for trial. They are being subjected to worst kind of treatment but no world HR body is highlighting their plight,” she added. “When will these organizations, who claim to champion the cause of upholding Human Rights, play their role effectively,” she said.

She further said the DeM leaders were arrested on April 19 and since then they were being shifted from one jail to another. “ Finally, Indian authorities in connivance with the local puppets succeeded in shifting the trio to Delhi so that they can suppress them as much as they can. Family members aren’t allowed to meet them, every basic facility inside the jail is being denied and oppression keeps on growing with each day. These women are being subjected to grave ill treatment inside Tihar and the whole world is watching like a mute spectator,” she added.
